According to preliminary statistics from Chinese customs, China exported a total of 27.925 million tons of major elemental fertilizers from January to August 2025, marking a significant year-on-year increase of 41.7%. The export value reached $8.033 billion, up 53.2% compared to the same period last year.
In August alone, China exported 5.094 million tons of various fertilizers, a increase of 26.2% year-on-year. The export value for the month was $1.882 billion, reflecting a substantial growth of 68.0%.
On the import side, China imported 8.457 million tons of fertilizers in the first eight months of 2025, a decrease of 6.8% compared to the same period last year. The total import value was $2.745 billion, down by 10.0% year-on-year.
In August, China imported 841,000 tons of fertilizers with a total value of $316 million. The average customs declaration cost, insurance, and freight (CIF) price stood at $375.27 per ton.
