A significant agricultural export memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth $30 million was signed in Phnom Penh on September 10 between a leading Chinese fruit distributor and a Cambodian agricultural company, aiming to accelerate the export of Cambodian durians, mangoes, bananas, longans, and other fruits to China over the next two years.
The signing ceremony was attended by Cambodian Minister of Commerce, Cham Nimul, and Zheng Haiyang, Vice Governor of Henan Provincial People’s Government. Minister Cham Nimul extended a warm welcome to Vice Governor Zheng and expressed appreciation for the productive discussions on strengthening trade and economic cooperation between Cambodia and China.
Minister Cham Nimul emphasized the importance of expanding the export of Cambodian agricultural products to China and encouraged more Chinese investors to explore opportunities in Cambodia, particularly in modern agriculture, food processing, and digital technology—sectors with high potential for integration into Chinese supply chains.
She also urged private sectors from both countries to take full advantage of preferential policies under the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the China-ASEAN Free Trade Agreement to deepen cooperation and facilitate further memoranda of understanding.
During the event, Minister Cham Nimul witnessed the signing of the MoU between Zhengzhou Chenshi Yangguang Fruits & Vegetables Trading Co., Ltd. and Cambodia’s Nongde Agricultural Development Co., Ltd., marking a concrete step toward enhanced fruit and vegetable trade with China.
According to earlier reports, Chenshi Yangguang has been collaborating with local enterprises in Battambang Province, northwestern Cambodia, to develop a durian plantation base spanning more than 2500 mu (approximately 167 hectares). The project is progressing smoothly, and the company has already begun importing Cambodian durians by air freight—a process that takes just four hours to reach Henan, China.
